We have camped here several times on our way to or from Colorado and we have never been disappointed. We make reservations on line and ask for a satellite friendly site and that's what we get. The campground is well-maintained and well-groomed with plenty of space between sites and the staff was friendly and helpful. We'll definitely be back.

This is a great park. Manicured sites, concrete pads, lots of space between sites and everything maintained and in good working order. There are a lot of activities available for adults and kids and the staff was friendly and helpful. This is what we expect, but don't always get, from a KOA park. We will definitely stay here again.

Colorado has some great state parks, and this is one of them. Level concrete pads, full 50 amp hook-ups, acres of manicured grass, paved interior roads, and laundry facilities make this a great place to stay. Its proximity to town is both good and bad; we prefer to be more out in the country. It is quiet, and the staff is friendly and helpful. We would camp here again.

As previous reviewers have mentioned, the trees are gone. The pine and spruce beetles have devastated the forest in this part of Colorado and the owners had no choice but to have the dead trees cut down. Unfortunately, the campground is a mess, tall grass and weeds, muddy, dirt roads and overgrown and undefined sites. KOAs are not all good or all bad; they are separate entities. We've stayed at some really great ones and some really poor ones. This was one of the poor ones and we won't be back.

This campground is in Howard, not Salida. This is a nice park, well-maintained but very crowded. The river sites were all taken by long term, seasonal rentals and most of the sites are very close together. The laundry is small, but all the machines worked. Most of the long term residents seemed to know each other but everyone was friendly and the park was very quiet in the evenings. It's a good place to stay if you are visiting the area and we would stay here again.

This is a great state park. The sites are laid out with plenty of space on each side and at different angles so you never feel like you are too close to your neighbor. Level, concrete pads and full 50 amp hook-ups are a real plus. It is quiet and the lake and mountains provide beautiful views. We managed to get our Sprint mobile broadband to work, but the signal was very weak and would frequently drop out. Same with the phone. The roads into the park are dirt which can make the trip in and out very dusty. There is no shade and summer days can get very hot. Taking everything into account, it is a really nice campground, well-maintained and nicely laid out. We would definitely camp here again.

This is a beautiful state park, well off the beaten path in eastern Colorado. The review is for Wagon Wheel Campground. Although there is no water at the sites, there are plenty of water hydrants throughout the campground that offer easy access. The roads and sites are paved with lots of space between sites and acres of mowed grass in and around the campground. It was a quiet, peaceful oasis in the high plains and we would definitely camp here again. The only negative is the several miles of dirt road leading to the park entrance. No stores nearby, either so bring what you need and enjoy the serenity.

This is our second visit in as many years and we love it. This is not a resort with parking lot style sites. This is camping in the pines with lots of space between sites, clean air, solitude and beautiful mountain views. We'll definitely be back here again.

This park is not fancy, but it's not a bad place to stay if you are visiting the wine country or Temecula. We arrived quite late, but the manager was still up and he immediately came out, opened the office, checked us in and made sure we got settled. He was very nice and very friendly. The sites are not real big and the campground felt crowded. There was barely enough room for our rig and it took some doing to get our jeep parked on our site without having it stick out into the road. The WiFi works okay, but if you are more than a third of the way back in the park, you won't get the signal. We were on the edge with just barely enough signal to connect. There is no cell coverage out here either...you need to go about 5 miles back toward Temecula to get reliable signal. This all sounds a little negative, but really it's not. The park is well kept and continuously monitored by a friendly staff. This is a nice park in a pretty area and we will stay here again when we are visiting the area.

This park is okay, if you are there for the amenities that they offer. These desert resorts are all pretty much the same. We were doing other things in the area and just needed a place to spend a couple of nights, and it worked well for that. Their after hours check-in needs some help. A resident, coming in at the same time, let us in the gate but there was no information, map or directions left at the office. We finally unhooked our jeep and drove around the park until we found security. The gentleman was very nice and helpful, but the site we were assigned in our reservation was occupied. He helped us find another site and about two hours later we finally got settled. The sites are not very level...we needed blocks under our jacks. They are also extremely tight for a big rig to get in and out of without clipping trees or other landscaping. The park is quiet, clean and well-maintained and the staff was friendly. It met our needs, but I doubt that we would go back.

This is a great park, neat, clean and well-maintained. There is ample spacing between the sites so the park never feels crowded. There are lots of trees, so pay attention to the notes on the website if you want satellite access. The only drawback, for big rigs, are the very narrow roads and tight curves. The site was plenty big for our 41 footer, but it was very tight getting in and out. San Diego County has the best website for reserving campsites that I have ever seen...check it out. We enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back.

For an urban park, this place is decent. It is neat and well-maintained with good spacing between sites. There were lots of extended stay folks, but no old rigs surrounded by junk and no noisy neighbors. The staff was friendly and helpful. If you want the convenience of being in downtown Bakersfield, this is the place to be. We'll stay here again.

This is a great RV park. The sites are well spaced among the tall pines with beautiful views in all directions. They have all the amenities without the "resort" atmosphere (we hate resorts.) The Wi-Fi works well, but they are just using a residential router, so you have to be in or around the club house/pool area to get the signal. Staff is friendly and helpful, and the restaurant serves good food. We stayed a week, geocaching and enjoying the area, and would like to have stayed longer. We will be back!

This place is nowhere near Pueblo. It is at Colorado City, about 30 miles south. That said, it is a decent KOA, well-maintained with a friendly staff. The sites are a bit close, but they have lots of grass and a good cable system. Wi-Fi worked well. Lots of long-termers here, and the place was filled to capacity but still quiet. We would stay here again.

This is a nice campground with good services and friendly staff. We stayed a few nights while doing some geocaching and visiting the Great Sand Dunes. We would stay here again.

Customer service is a funny thing...it is often the little things that are really annoying. When we checked in, they had trouble finding a 50 amp site to put us in because someone had come in late the night before and and took the wrong site. While the owner was trying to sort out the computer system, a man, who was part of the staff (a work kamper?) asked why we thought we needed a 50 amp site, anyway. My answer...because that is what we reserved. It wasn't a big deal, but not the way to greet your customer on arrival. The owners turned out to be very nice and very accommodating people. Once the computer cooperated, they found us a site and everything was fine. There is no shade here, but that isn't a problem with the cool weather at this altitude. The WiFi works great and the laundry is spotless with all machines working. They put a lot of effort into maintaining this campgound and it shows. This is by far the best choice in the area and we would stay here again.

Wow, what a great military Famcamp. Beautiful location in the trees with excellent facilities. Wi-Fi worked great even though our site was at the very edge of the campground. Great staff who does their best to accommodate your needs. We asked for a site with Sat access and they knew exactly which ones would work. Both of us had careers in the AF but had never visited the Academy. Glad we did! Lots of good Geocaching in the area, too. We will definitely make a point of coming back.

The biggest drawback here are the access roads...narrow with lots of trees. It is manageable with a big rig, but you have to be careful. Like so many parks, it was designed and laid out when camping rigs were smaller and changes have not been made to accomodate larger motor homes with slide-outs. All-in-all, a nice park with good facitilties and a pleasant staff. Lots of trees so sat reception is possible but not guaranteed. We would stay here again.

We have stayed at this park often while visiting our daughter in Bakersfield. We liked it because it is out in the country and relatively quiet. Everything else about it, however, adds up to zero. It doesn't appear that anything has been done to maintain this place since it left the KOA family. No effort has been made to maintain the dirt roads which are full of large holes and are generally in terrible shape. They haven't even bothered to water the grass, which is now dead. Unfortunately, the place has become a dump, as evidenced by the fact that, other than the long termers, we were the only people in the campground. Too bad! It used to be a good alternative to the urban RV parks in Bakersfield. Next time we'll go elsewhere.

New owners have made some improvements, but they have a long way to go. It gets hot here and lack of 50 amp service is a real negative. They need to clean up the areas around the sites and the playground. You can't walk anywhere without getting full of foxtails, stickers and burrs. Be prepared to spend time picking the afore- mentioned hitchhikers off of you pets. I think we'll look elsewhere next time.

This is a very nice campground and a great place to stay if you need a stopover on I-40. The pull-thru sites are huge and the entire place is immaculately maintained. Kudos to the folks who were running the place when we were there, a very nice couple from Port Angeles, Washington State. They were friendly and helpful and added that personal touch that made our visit enjoyable, instead of just okay. We will stay here again.

We have stayed here many times on the way to and from Arizona and points east. It is a very nice, well-maintained KOA and the staff has always been friendly and helpful. The pull-thrus are long enough for my 41 foot MH plus towed vehicle and all the utilities work as advertised. The park is quiet and peaceful...a pleasant place to stay. Everyone is right about the price of fuel. Needles may have the highest prices in the country. What ever you do, don't plan on filling up here. We will stay here again.

This is an absolutely beautiful State Park. It is in the tall pines with lots of space between sites and is always quiet and peaceful. We stayed a week and would probably stay forever if we could...maybe some day soon. The trees may interfere with Sat TV but there are some sites that are not obstructed. We spent the week relaxing and geocaching. What a great place! We will be back, often.

Overall, this is a very nice KOA. The sites are a little close together but there is a small area of grass and some trees between each site. The trees have been recently trimmed and we had no trouble getting our 41 foot motorhome situated and slides extended. We would like a little more space around us but the spacing here is pretty much what you would expect at most campgrounds. The staff are very friendly and accommodating...nice people. We did a quick overnight on our way to a visit to the Commissary but we will be back for weekend outings since we live only 60 miles away. It is a very pleasant, quiet and well-maintained KOA.

This is a County park, with campsites set in a dry wash in the hills near Calico Ghost Town, near Barstow, CA. It's really not a bad campground and most of the sites are pretty well maintained. Ours, however, (one of the longer pull-thrus) had been severely eroded with deep ruts and loose rocks and it took some finagling to get situated and level. The next day, the wind came up and we all about blew away. That's not fault of the campground, but the winds can be really bad on the upslope of these mountains. The Calico Ghost Town is worth a look-see. The history of this area is very interesting and definitely worth the trip. It is convenient for us for a quick weekend and we will stay here again.

We came in here on Christmas Eve, for an overnight on the way to Roper Lake. Since it was late, they said the only place they could put us was in the overflow area...a parking lot. (Mind you, they had lots of pull-thru sites available.) In all fairness, the staff were friendly and helpful, but if they think our experience here would make us inclined to purchase a lot in their park...well, sorry! I have to assume this was better than Wal-Mart (I've never stayed there and don't intend to) but probably only just. What can I say...it's a resort type campground. Not our cup of tea! We won't be back. Next time, we'll go a few miles on up the road to Usery Mountain.

This is an outstanding campground, effectively managed and meticulously maintained. The owner didn't seem to have any help while we were there and was doing everything himself. He was there at the crack of dawn watering the grass, cleaning the restrooms, checking people in and guiding them to their site, and making sure people had what they needed. He was still there late in the evening, keeping the office open for late arrivals. (He is a nice guy, in spite of the fact that he is Army.) The park is spacious, pleasant and quiet. We will camp here again next time we are in the area.

If you like getting up in the mountains and camping in the forest, this is the place for you. Lots of space between sites , very quiet and well-maintained. It is a steep climb up the mountain from I-70 but the road is good. This is a great state park and a beautiful place to camp while you are exploring the Central City area.

We have stayed here often on our travels back and forth across the country. It is a nice COE campground with electrical hookups and pleasant sites with space around them. The campground is situated on a small arm of what is a big lake and if boating and fishing is your thing, this is a great place to be. And even if you are not a boater, this is a quiet, pleasant campground and a nice place to spend some time. We'll be back.

Michigan has some great state parks and this one tops the list. The sites are large with lots of space and manicured grass. The location is hard to beat...right on the shores of Lake Michigan. Whenever we are in this part of the country, we make a point of coming here.

This is a decent KOA, well-run and well-maintained. The setting is a little bleak...out in the open with no trees, but it is close to Glacier National Park. The park is laid out on a gentle hillside and the sites slope down hill. It was hard to get our rig leveled. It is also a bit pricey but that is because your choices in the area are limited. It is not a bad place to be if you want to explore Glacier from the east.

This is a nice campground and about the only game in town if you want to be close to West Bend. The park is well-maintained and managed. We found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. They have the usual rules, which they enforce, but we think that is a good thing. It insures that everyone respects each other's privacy. We enjoy camping here and we will return.

Very nice city-run campground on the north edge of town. We arrived right after they had experienced one of the worst wind storms they had seen in years. Broken branches were everywhere. The campground, however, is very, very nice. Lots of space between sites, lots of trees to provide shade, and quiet and peaceful. The pull-thru site we were in was more than long enough for our 41 foot MH and towed vehicle. if you are going to Medicine Hat, this is the place to be. We will stay here again.

This place looks better on the website than it really is. It is a small, extremely crowded park with everyone crammed in right next to each other. There were lots of local people who had come in big groups to party, so it certainly wasn't peaceful or quiet. There was not a lot of maneuvering for a large motor home, partly because of the narrow roads and trees and partly because of the way the sites are laid out. It was okay for an overnight stay, but I wouldn't return here.

If you have a big rig, the new section of the West Campground is the best place to be. The sites are larger and more open with long pull-throughs available in the center section. The older part of the West Campground and the East campground are overgrown with trees, making it difficult to park and maneuver without scratching the side or your rig. Overall, however, very nice. Copper Harbor is a beautiful area with small villages, lighthouses and rugged terrain. We will return here as often as we can.

This is a huge campground, but the way it is laid out, it doesn't feel big or crowded. The sites are pull-through loops along the interior roads so you have lots of space and are not particularly close to anyone. It doesn't have a lot of amenities, but then you don't come here to hang around the campground. If you want full hook-ups for a week while you explore Banff, Lake Louise and Jasper National Park, then this is the place to be. The area here is drop-dead beautiful and shouldn't be missed by anyone who loves the mountains. We will return.

The name pretty much sums it up. This park is okay for an overnight or a short stay in Moose Jaw, but I certainly wouldn't make a point of coming here. The sites are very narrow and close together with little, fence-like partitions between the sites. There was barely enough room to extend the slides on both sides. The wifi didn't work when we were there and the lady at the desk said it had been out for a while. The staff was friendly and they did their best to accommodate people. If I was returning to Moose Jaw, I'd probably look somewhere else.

This place was okay, but not great. It is a very big and very crowded park with all the sites lined up next to one another. It has that over-used and run down look to it. Most people come here for the beach and the lake, although the park has a golf course too. There is a store, shops and gas station nearby in the park. It was okay for an overnight stay, but next time I would look for something else.

Moose Mountain is the only blip on what is miles and miles of flat, open plains. The park is in a line of low hills, near a large lake with lots of trees. It is a pretty and pleasant area in the middle of very monotonous landscape. The campground itself is nothing special...lots of dirt sites set in among the trees. The utilities are located at the very front of the site making them almost impossible to reach if you back in. Lots of locals spend most of the summer here so make reservations if you want hookups. We would camp here again.

This place is hard to describe. It is a hunting and fishing lodge on Lake of the Woods with cabins, restaurant and an area in the trees for RVs. We were the only ones in the camping area. The sites are not very clearly defined, just lots of grass areas among the trees. You just pull in where you can fit and still be near the utilities. It is quiet and absolutely beautiful on a gentle hill overlooking Lake of the Woods. The owner was friendly and accommodating and helped us get parked and settled in a site that allowed us to align our satellite through a gap in the trees. Their small restaurant, overlooking the lake is top-notch. I highly recommend it. We wished our schedule would have allowed us to stay longer. We will definitely return.

This park is off the beaten path and somewhat isolated out in the country. For us, that's a good thing. The sites are well-spaced in thick woods so it is hard to tell if anyone else is around. It wasn't very busy in mid July. The most interesting thing here is the large flock of wild turkeys that roam through the campground. The attraction here is the lake and fishing. It made for a very pleasant and secluded overnight stay.

We like this park and camp here often. Access is easy for a big rig and there is lots of space around the sites. Although near town, it has the feeling of being removed and isolated. Very quiet! We'll be back.

Overall, not a bad campground. A little tight for larger rigs, but manageable. Lots of long-term residents but that didn't seem to be a problem. The staff was friendly and helpful. The rocks are a big part of the appeal but they also give you a very closed-in feeling. The park is fine for an overnight stay. There are not a lot of choices in the area and we would stay here again.

Even though this park is close to Phoenix, it is up in the hills to the northeast and feels very isolated. The view of the city lights at night is spectacular. The sites are large and well maintained with lots of space between sites. You are never very close to anyone. It is a beautiful, desert environment, great in the winter but probably unbearable during the summer heat. We will camp here again.

Very nice campground with lots of ducks, quail and other birds. Small, natural hot spring spa with walking distance. We don't understand the reservation policy. The state park website says that they don't accept reservations, but when we arrived, all the lakefront sites were reserved. All the sites are nice, however, with lots of space around them. Be sure to take the drive up Mt. Graham. It is absolutely beautiful, winter or summer. Great spot for winter season camping. We will be back.

This is a great National Park campground where you can experience nature at its finest. The park is quiet with lots of space between sites. This is one our top 5 favorite parks. Our site was right on the dunes, flanking the beach. You can walk the beach, explore the old gun batteries that were built to protect the entrance to the Puget Sound or take an easy walk to the lighthouse on the point. Port Townsend is a charming town that has somehow escaped much of the over-commercialization that we see so often nowdays. We will return here at every opportunity.

This park is in a spectacular location, right at the narrows of the inside passage to Alaska. You pull in facing the water and you can watch the cruise ships passing through the narrows. The park is immaculately maintained and well-groomed. The narrow, dirt road, leading in from the highway, gets very muddy when it rains and can be pretty dicey if you meet a logging truck coming the other way (which we did) but we passed with inches to spare. When we got to the park, our rig and towed vehicle were covered with mud. The owner was very apologetic and after checking us in, told us to pull over to the side where he took a hose and very carefully hosed off our entire big rig and car. The people here are very nice and accommodating. The little floating restaurant, mentioned on the website, is not something I would recommend. No stores available here either, so bring what you need for the duration. This park tops our favorite list.

Very nice, quiet campground with lots of shade. The WiFi went down shortly after we arrived, but they got it fixed quickly and it worked well after that. Short walk through the woods to the beach on Willapa Bay. Beautiful location. It is off the beaten path and somewhat isolated, but that is a big part of the appeal. We will definitely stay here again.
